This Land Bridge, or isthmus, connects North- and South America but most importantly, it is home to one of the largest and most difficult engineering projects of all time; The Panama Canal.
The Seaport Colon, on the coast of Panama, is situated close to the Panama Canal’s Caribbean Sea entrance. Built on the site of a former US Navy base, the Colon Container Terminal opened for business in 1997 as an inter-modal hub for ocean-going cargo.
