New Requirement for Hazardous Declarations into, via
or from the U.S.A, effective arrival October 1st, 2010
The United States Department of Transportation’s Pipeline and Hazardous Materials Safety Administration (PHMSA) has created a new regulation, HM-206F.Effective arrival October 1, 2010 the following information will be required on all hazardous declarations for cargo which is exported from or imported to the United States.
1) The company’s name who is contracted with the emergency response provider
Example: 1-555-555-5555, Chemtrec, John Doe Chemical Company
Either/Or
2) The contract number with the emergency response provider
Example: 1-555-555-5555, Chemtrec, Contract #12345
The information must appear immediately before, after, above or below the emergency response telephone number on the hazardous declarations.
This applies only to shippers who do not have their own in house emergency responseteam but use a provider such as Chemtrec/Chemtel.
